Woo Hoo - my car broke down yesterday

Okay, so it's really not that cool that my car broke down BUT I've been using too many excuses not to ride my bike to work. Most of those excuses revolve around it taking too long to get home and I'll miss cross practice. As the season is right around the corner, I've got practice three nights a week plus I lead a Cincinnati Cycle Club road weeknight ride so I need to make sure I get home in time.

The car is at the shop. It's about 1500 miles shy of 200,000 and I've been paying myself a "pretend" car payment every month with a timeline of buying a "new to me" car in April. I'm a big Dave Ramsey disciple and he won't let me finance.

So, I guess I'm forced to do some bike commuting. I've got some great hills to ride on the way home. And I'm excited to start my new voyage.

Well, I guess I'll celebrate your car breakdown with you since it'll force you to ride your bike a little more. I know that I'm dependent on my car to get to work (52 miles a day), but when it comes to errands, my bike is my machine. Good for you for saving money for a car. Seems like a lost art: saving money for something we want.

Enjoy your new adventures with your bike!

that is a good perspective you have. maybe I will use that same thought process to get my own car. Although I would rather have a house first. Houses appreciate (well maybe not in these times), cars depreciate.
Thanks TE! You pushed me half way over!
