    August 11th Rides!

I'm surprised! I'm the first to post a ride from today? wow!

But it was such a fun ride! Wow!! We started with a climb we've done a lot, and I hit it harder and faster than usual - very cool! And I practiced sprinting and powerering up on the rollers after that. Again, very cool!!!

After that we added a new hill climb that I haven't done before. I lost a fair bit of steam, but was still enjoying it. Very cool. After all that climbing, we hit the winding, bumpy country road. Lots of pot holes, rough ashphalt, so I took it a bit slower, felt a bit nervous with the car following closely behind me, but it wasn't wide enough for him to pass. I noticed the speed limit sign said 50km/hr, and my computer said 46km/hr, so I didn't worry too much that I was going to slow for them....

and then it all got sooooo much better! We rounded a corner onto a newly paved wide road. The pavement was so smooth, so wonderful, so easy to go fast Wow! What fun! The rest of the ride was the usual ride home, but it sure was fun the whole time. Wow! 25 km (15+ miles) of riding, 433 m (1420 feet) of climbing. As I crested the last hill home, I thought I didn't have anything left in me, but a few minutes after we'd been home I was so wired from such a great ride, that I'm thinking next time, we'll add on another 20k or so, with a couple more hills!

It's so amazing and cool. I never imagined I would love this so much!!!

So, what did you ride today??

    Hugs and butterflies,

    No other takers?
My Sunday ride wasn't exciting -- barely got it in before sundown. Rode my usual loop -- about 19 miles, with about 1/3 hilly. (Including one BIG one). I like riding it b/c it's out my front door, and I can judge my speed on it well (since I ride it every week or two).

But I saw a doe, baby alpacas, and a lot of calfs. Good ride all in all... I love riding at sunset!

I went out with the LBS group ride for the first time. Everyone was nice and a few decided to give me unsolicited advice. I know they were trying to be helpful but I have played around enough to know that I am pretty strong and can utilize the big chain ring. I am a big ring masher. I admit it. Anyway the old guy that said something after putting his arm around me (grrr) early on ended up pretty far back. I stayed with the B group and ended up in a 'breakaway' with 4 guys. They actually had some good advice about staying lower when I stand and so on. After the ride one guy asked if I had special long cranks on my bike cause of the way I attacked the hills. I shrugged cause they are the ones the bike came with. Anywho, we did 28 miles and averaged 20.5mph- my fastest yet but I had never ridden with anyone that was up to or better than me to draft on. It was fun and I plan to do the ride every week.

Another day of torrential rain. My tour across MA starts Thursday and rain is predicted for that day. I am not thrilled about about riding 30-50 miles in the rain and then camping . Trying to have a good attitude and to remember the money we paid for the tour goes to bike advocacy projects in the state.
I spent the whole morning at the gym. 30 minutes of elliptical, 30 minutes of weights and stretching, and an hour and a half yoga class. It was good, but riding would be better.
