20 miles down to Lake Monroe twice - 2,100 feet of climbing.

Got a flat tire as I was pulling into the driveway - what timing!

20 miles just ridin' the back country roads.
Passed about 15 feet from a deer who just chewed his cud at me while I zipped past.
Went down a very gravelly dirt road downhill through the woods and my tires were shooting pebbles out left and right like bullets.
On the pleasant tree lined street coming into town on the way home, another cyclist was coming towards me on the other side of the street- we could see each other from far away. She was about 30, in tennis shoes and a skort. and was riding a mixte with a wicker basket on the front with a couple of big fake flowers in it. I smiled and waved as we passed each other, but she just stared ahead with a sullen look on her face. It's totally impossible that she didn't see me. Oh well, I guess riding a mixte with a flowery basket doesn't necessarily make you carefree and happy.

Anyway, it was a great ride this morning.

I rode 40 miles this morning, much hillier terrain than on Saturday, around the mountain and in the valley areas. Very much liking the new bike, though I do believe the saddle's got to goooooooo.

BF was running late so we just did 15 since I have to go to the barn afterward and do chores. I started out setting the pace and much to my amusement we almost caught up to the bike shop group ride.

    *hee*

So then I sat on BF's wheel because he was feeling the effects of the heat but after a while I felt like cranking it out some more. I managed to hit 35mph on a downhill and that was a rush. Sunday's ride of the 20 mile loop at 19.1 mph was pretty grueling and I intended to have a lite day so the 18.6 average mph was fine.

Not sure I will ride Tue due to an appointment but after getting rained out most of last week, I am inclined to squeeze it in anyway.

Got a ride when you can!

I worked a 10 hour shift yesterday and all I could think about was riding my bike. Every time a patient didn't show, I jumped on TE and daydreamed about riding. By the time I got home, though, it was getting late and I was missing my window of opportunity. I was in such a hurry, I forgot to grab water. So, I headed out down a long hill, turned around and rode back up it. I didn't discover the missing water until I had gotten to the top and was thirsty. I decided it was hot, getting dark, I was thirsty, and my hill would just have to do. A couple miles didn't quite look like my daydream.
