    New Bike! I'm sooooooore.

Finally! I got me a bike! It's a 2008 Fuji Team, super, super lightweight, scoots right up hills even on a standard double (upgrade to compact double will occur at some point).

I've been riding a ~1998 GT mountain bike on road rides for a year and a half. Wednesday I did 40 miles on it, with a group, and was able to keep ahead of some of the group even. I came back from that ride with energy still to go.

Took the new baby out for its' maiden ride today, 35 miles, had a blast and I'm so tired and sore! New position and geometry, I suppose. If I can't make the saddle feel better after some tinkering then I'm going to have to replace that with something a little better fitting. But I can just tell - once I get my new muscles in, this ride is going to be FABULOUS.

Will post pictures of me and Streak later (it's blue, and fast, so blue streak... haha)

where are you sore? congrats on the new bike.
When I first got my Bianchi Veloce, it was so different from anything i'd ever had, that I felt light and free and ended up with lots of sore muscles just from going too fast.

(but then there's sore from too far of a reach and poor saddle fit)

Wow, sounds like you are doing GREAT! Congrats on your new bike! (pictures?)

Keep in mind it might take your body several weeks to adapt to the new body positions and new ways of moving. Going from mtn bike to road bike is a big change. Unless you have a terrible pain somewhere, I would suggest just riding it for another couple of weeks before tweaking anything. Give your body and muscles a chance to settle into their new bike home before changing anything. After you body has settled it will be easier to tell if a tweaked thing is helping or not.

    Ride on!!

Pain isn't terrible - I'm sore in places that aren't used to the position, is my thought. The position is much lower, more forward rather than upright, so parts of my back were tired and sore. It's new for the arms too, and a little different even for the legs, because the MTB I was riding was my husbands' and a little big for me (seat doesn't adjust well on it as he added a shock to the seatpost, the bike was pre-full suspension).

Think I should take some shorter rides for a while and build up to the longer ones again? Like say, 10-15 miles rather than 35+?

The 08 page for Fuji bikes is down - otherwise I'd just link a photo of the bike there. I'll get someone to take a pic of me and Streak later. :-)

That's funny! I keep hearing the voice of Oscar the Grouch in my head whenever I read Grey's posts. Must be an artist thing.
