    re using tape

OK...so I may need to make some adjustments to my new bars and the hi tech foam set I put on is all in the wrong place and umpy (ugh+lumpy)

Can I unwrap my leather bar tape (again) completely and then put it back on?

I was thinking I might just use a length of the Cinelli cork I took off..take it a turn around the top bar and then re wrap w/the Brooks....AFTER I get position settled.

    Moi, an opinion?

You should be able to rewrap any quality tape. What is the Cinelli cork for?

Did you use electrical tape to hold the padding in place while you wrapped the tape?

Just had a thought while I was taking a shower (my best thinking time): when you tape the padding, be sure to pre-cut small pieces of tape. The tape is only an adhesive; it's not there to strangle and constrict the padding.

I re-used 25-year-old tape last weekend. I unwound it, replaced the stem and rewound it. It had the old '80s foam grips underneath it, and I left it on there. I didn't respond because mine's not leather.

I would think you could re-use leather rather than vinyl more easily.

the grips had their own stick-to on it...not REAL strong....and yes, I think I might have strangled them with the tightness of the tape...

thus i thought i might just use a little of the old cork tape for padding.just a wee bit.

(I'm w/ya on the shower thinking...you should see my water bill!!!)
