    Done with my deadline!

I've been working on five grant applications over the past few months. The last two weeks I've hardly been outside, working weekends and nights. I literally have not been outside for three days!

Today, the last two were FINALLY finished and submitted to the gov't agency. It's the first time I've used their digital submission system. The first three went off without a hitch because I submitted them a few days early, but these last two...4 hours today of computer error messages! The deadline is at midnight tonight. I further reduced the file size and away they went. Next time I'll know that from the start (although they were originally well below the cutoff of 10MB).

Whew! Tomorrow it's a haircut and a bike ride and a beer (I'd have one tonight, but my fridge is empty.)

Now I can start planning that house stuff!

Holey moley! I have done grant writing before - I'd rather poke my eyes out.
What do you do for a living? (If the answer is grant writing, well, just play nice ).
    Yippee!
    Enjoy the breather.

I used to do grant accounting. It's possible that's worse than grant writing.

Glad it's over for you, Tulip! Get out on the bike; float on the 'rivah', and enjoy planning all the wonderful changes you are going to make in your new/old house!

Thanks, yes, I'll ride my bike and go to the rivah for some relaxin'.

I love what I do. I work from home and except for once a year when these deadlines come around, my work is flexible and I can go on bike rides in the middle of the day, take a nap, go fishing, or take a break in my garden (well, when I get a garden). I work hard, but I've managed to mostly be balanced, a big change from my former corporate job. (the new house has an outbuilding that I'm going to turn into my office, that'll be great because I do like to have my workspace separate from my living space).

I develop affordable housing for the elderly and for people with disabilities. I also do landscape design for these projects and on the side, although the side gig has taken a back seat lately. I can make it what I want to. I've been fortunate that all of our work comes to us through referrals and repeat clients. We even had to turn down a big project this year.

(if you want more info or a weblink, just send me a pm).

Yay for getting your life back! Sometimes I think we need the busy periods, though. They make us appreciate the time that we can take care of ourselves and do what we want to do all the more.

Enjoy your well deserved ride, and break
