No riding for me for a while :(

Saturday morning I decided to take my usual little stroll around my yard and garden to see how the plants are doing. It had rained heavily the night before, and just before I stepped over a retaining/landscaping wall, my foot slipped in the mud and down I went. The top bridge of my foot and the long, skinny bones that lead to the toes took a mean blow against the edge of the concrete wall, and it's all swollen and puffy and hurts much like a break.

So got an x-ray. Not broken as far as I can tell (I'm cheap, I had the picture taken at a friend's chiropractic clinic). My friend will be able to read the xray later today to be sure but... we know this probably means I hurt a ligament, which is worse because they take LONGER to heal than a bone.

So it might be a few weeks before I can ride again. So much for the Century in Millstadt Aug. 2 too.

Ouch!! Grey that really stinks! I hope it isn't a nasty ligament tear and that you'll be back in the saddle soon. In the meantime, you can prop up that foot and watch the TDF to keep us posted on the latest.

I ended up doing something similar last year (landed wrong on a small mountain bike jump and twisted my foot as I landed with the bike on top of me). A podiatrist concluded that I sprained the tendon in the side of my foot. She gave me a brace that laces up like a boot and stabilizes the foot and ankle. I ended up only having to take a little over a week off the bike and just rode with the brace on for remainder of the season. Something to look into? I hope you feel better!

Oh Grey... no dancing on tables? How will you survive?
Seriously... I hope it's not as bad as possible, and that you'll be in the pedals (not necessarily on the table) again soon!

LOL @ me dancing on tables!

Thanks for all the well-wishes. I hope to be able to ride before too long.
