A big win for race horses!

I am so excited I just had to share this article. Hurray! Maybe this is the wake up call that the racing industry needs to realize that these are living, breathing animals and not just a commodity that you can dispose of when they stop being of value. There are so many people that rescue off track thoroughbreds, but unlike greyhounds, taking on a horse is a lot more work an expense, and usually is not for the inexperienced horse person.

It'll be nice to see horses put out to pasture - one that involves munching on daisys instead of pushing up daisys.

Now if they can just do something about doping, and breeding for speed at the expense of good bone structure. Horses don't make the choice to dope, a human does that. Or maybe I'm wrong - a sexy filly backs a stablehand up against a stall and shames herself for drugs....

I used to ride a retired race horse, 17 hand thoroughbred. Biggest gentle horse I've ever been on.

    That is so great.

I can't watch horse racing. I respect it and have had relatives who owned horses but I think there are aspects that are cruel. That and I agree, a that a living animal shouldn't be a commodity. Making a profit from a life doesn't make sense to me but then again there are gray areas too.
