    Pool Mini Tri question

    To disable ads, please log-in.

This is my first year of doing tris. So in preparation for my first sprint on august 24th I signed up for a mini sprint, basically to practice transitions. Here's my question: The tri suit I bought I think said somewhere on it that you should not wear it in chlorine water. So what do I wear? Do I wear a competition swimsuit that I train in and change out of that into my gear for the bike/run or is there another alternative? Since the swim is at a large aquatic center I assume we will have access to the locker rooms to change, or perhaps they would set up a tent??

I figure a little chlorine isn't going to wreck the suit instantly. I wore mine in chlorine before I had my first race to make sure it fit and performed the way I expected.

I kind of figure that as thin is the material is, it's only going to last through one season anyway.

Just wear it. You definitely can't change out of a swimming suit and into biking/running clothes in transition and it's really hard to even pull bike shorts on over a swim suit when your body is damp/wet.

If you will be wearing socks for the bike and run I pour some baby powder into mine, shake it around a bit, and then fold the socks back on themselves to make getting into them much easier.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Thanks guys! I guess I will wear the tri suit. Another question- do you all have one tri suit or more than one? Should I have a second just in case?

I have one Zoot tri short that I can pair with two different tri tops. I've been thinking that I should have a second pair of shorts, just in case.

Thanks!! I will heading to a Tri store in the next day or two to try on wet suits so maybe I will pick up another tri top and shorts.

BTW rinse out your suit as soon as you can after your pool swim.
