June 20th Rides

It was "only" supposed to be 107 here today, so I got started at 4:45 am
at 6 o'clock it was 82 degrees. This was fun because I had a mean dog jump a fence on me, so I had sprint up a hill.
Eventually , it did pay off:

I kept on pedaling to get to the good part. If you can call 3.5 miles of 8% grade good (but hardly no cars )




eventually I did come to the end of the pavement. it had cooled down. to 79 (could 't have been the 2500 feet of climbing?)

The road actually forks in about about a mile. you can go to Wrightwood or the ski lifts on Mt Baldy.
I decide to avoid the dog on the way home. I thought it was comfortable until I looked at my computer and saw it was reading 96 degrees. at 9:30.
Maybe I'll move to where it cooler. (Like Phoenix)

and now for a change of view, a Raleighdon and Mimi
city ride.
we started off at about 9am with me fussing about what to wear, was it going to cloud up and be cold and rainy? for once i trusted the weather report and left the raincoat behind. but since Raleighdon brought his panniers, i stuck some shoes in the bag. We took the most zig-zagging route you could imagine from our house to downtown. Raleighdon has ridden every street up and down and knows all sorts of routes...
After conducting a little business in Municipal Court Raleighdon and I went to the Seattle Art Museum where they have a special exhibit of French Impressionism. We ate lunch at the Museum too, excellent food really.
Then we rode on to our favorite bike shop, Elliott Bay Bikes, where the did a couple gentle adjustments on RD's bike.
Next stop was the new Sculpture park. it wasn't that exciting, no big deal. we rode a bit more along the waterfront and then turned around and took a sinuous way home. instead of our normal route home, my DH took us up some of the tougher hills so he could get 1200 feet of climb in our 25 mile ride...

DH took me to work and I rode home. At 19 miles he passed me in the car on his way home, I flagged him down and said adios to riding the last 8 miles in 97 degree weather.

It was only about 4.5 miles, and really slow, AND much of it in granny gear, but my legs are sure talking about today's Costco run!
