    Hey,

Performance bike has the nutritional items i want but am wondering if they're reputable? I know they're US based and before i spend extra for shipping I just wanted to know if I should not purchase from them.

    Is REI better?

Yep, Performance (and Nashbar, owned by the same company) is a reputable seller. I've order from them before; no issues.

As far as, REI vs. Performance I'd go with whoever is cheaper, including shipping. Course if you're a REI member, it may be worth it to order from them for the year-end dividend.

From your handle, I'm guessing you're in Canada. I assume you're aware that if you ship UPS or FedEx you'll get hit with some potentially massive charges. Pick the USPS (Postal Service) for shipping.

    Thanks Ilima!

I'm in Australia & know i'm going to be hit with $$$$ in terms of shipping. I just want to stock up (again ! I just purchased a bag full of stuff when we were in Canuckland!) & don't want to bother anyone (thanks dealers )anymore! I can even share with Trekhawk!

I like to ask round here as i'll get honest answers!

Off to puruse the REI site...

I don't know about their shipping to Canada, but I got mad at them when I paid for "2 day air" and they shipped it ground, which arrived in 2 days, but still wasn't what I paid for. The next time I ordered, I figured, hey, I'll just do ground shipping since it will get here in two days... WRONG! They use some sort of bulk mail system that too a little over a week to get to me.

I think that profiting from your shipping charges is pretty low, so I won't order from them any more.

Andrea, that was probably the shipper's decision not Performance's (and I'll venture to guess it was UPS, because they do that consistently). I've never had the particular experience you're describing. But with UPS, if you pay for ground, even if the parcel arrives at your city the next morning, they will hold it in the warehouse until the fifth day. Online tracking has been very instructive.

In other words, they'll ship it where they have room on their truck/plane, but if you pay for ground, you will NOT get the parcel in two days. Another reason why I never use UPS if I have a choice.

You'd think so, but I emailed Performance to complain, and they directed me to their policy that states that they may use whatever shipping method they want as long as it should arrive within the specified time.
