I think I can deal with this. Maybe?

Training ride yesterday. bit cool. not windy. just overcast.

So I'm out there riding, just finished up with my warm up of about 3 miles. The first hill has only about 200 feet maybe 300 feet of climb at around 6% or so grade. I'm doing okay in my 39/21 gearing, then two guys from South Bay Wheelmen blazes by me. looks like they were somewhere in 39/16 ish range both riding a Cervelo. Maybe they get a discount for Cervelo bikes. I can deal with this. They looked like cat 3's in terms of their speed and form. I have no problem. Further up , another SBW team member passes me. This guy is struggling a bit and swaying his body left and right. A sign of mashing gears. I can deal with that too. He's a young almost a stud muffin whereas the first two were. And I'm just an old biddy.

    I ride.

On the way home, mostly finished my training and bit spent. Also didn't help that I ate some kimchi with some rice before heading out. I have a young guy on a mountain bike catches up to me. Says "Man, I didn't think I could catch up to you" ???? huh? his mtn bike had a full on knobby tire, front shock only and a hard tail. still... I think I can deal with this too (maybe). Afterall, I had finished over 20 miles by then and about 1500 feet of climb. And I'm running on caloric deficit to lose weight. I'm just telling myself that he was riding fresh and was only riding 5 miles to his waiter job at some restaurant.

Otherwise, a low key easy ride for maintenance. Most importantly, it was a fun ride.

hey smilingcat, if you're not eating enough, the weight you lose is going to be muscle! the fat will stick even harder because you are starving yourself.
eat a little more and smoke those guys!

one thing to consider re: the mountain bike dude - he had a carrot dangling in front of him. i know whenever i see someone ahead of me, i immediately turn into race mode and MUST CATCH! the advantage is I know i'm in a race, the guy ahead doesn't know. i will push to the threshhold to catch that rabbit.
