    June 5th rides

Today's ride went much better than last night's "mystery ride." No accidents, no flying table saws just a safe clean ride!

Twelve club members drove out to my little community to join me on a 45 mile ride. I took them through the little towns of Defoe, Pleasureville and Eminence before heading back to my town, Shelbyville. Along the way we dodged a lot of cicadas, saw a big dead snake and were treated to a lot of beautiful horses in their pastures. On the last leg of the ride I noticed the riders in front of me waving those behind over to the left in a somewhat panicked way. When I finally reached the spot where they had began their waving I was greeted by a very large, alive, black snake which was coiled and striking. Seems those ahead of me did not see it and ran over the poor fellow. It was not a happy snake and had a rather large mouth! No harm done and I hope it was not too badly injured!

The weather was great today as well, sunny skies, mid 80's, high humidity and a strong SW wind (16 mph). Other then the wind one could not ask for better riding conditions. I'm glad so many came out to ride with me today. I typically only get around 6 participants so it was nice to have a large group today.

    Ride safe!

I had another great ride today. Saw some dark clouds looming when I left work, but luckily they headed in the opposite direction and I had nice sunny weather with a light breeze. Just perfect for a day of hill climbing, which in this part of the world means going up the same hill repeatedly as it's pretty flat around here. But I made it up the biggest hill in the county three times before heading off to the train. Now I'm pooped and about to fall asleep!
