    biking in AZ

Hey girls, can anyone tell me if there are any good road biking trails in AZ around the Grand Canyon area.

We are going there on vacation to see the Canyon, and I want to take my bike ecspecially if there are some pretty places to ride. We will be staying in Williams with some friends and site seeing daily, but I thought evenings I could ride a bit.
I don't want to take my bike if I am not going to be able to find some places that are nice to ride.
I looked on the city website, but it just says there are mountain bike trails.

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. I would really like to ride somewhere besides around home, which is what we always do.

If you are staying in Williams, try the Perkinsville Road; it goes south out of Williams (Watch for potholes!) It is not a very trafficked road so it is your best bet. It is pavement, then dirt at the bottom. But beware it is an out and back and it is a tremendous amount of climbing coming back out. You can go part of the way out and it is not too bad with climbing but when you see you are starting down for a while, think about turning around if you are not out for a long time and in for lots of climbing.

The rest of the roads are not good - the highway to Grand Canyon sucks - too much fast moving, touristy type traffic.

Come into Flagstaff and ride Lake Mary out and back; or Snowbowl hill on 180. These are all not too trafficked. If you need more information, pm me and I can give it to you.

Thanks Jan, I appreciate it. That's what I needed to know. I'm sure I won't have time for a lot of biking but I wanted to at least take my bike and be able to say I rode somewhere else.
Plus we may do some camping somewhere on the way home, and I would be able to ride around then.
