Red face Blew off the club ride tonight

so this is a shameless plea for validation...

I taught one easy aerobics class and one tough one last night, and another tough one this morning, and I'm scheduled to teach another tough one tomorrow night...

Between the stress of travel, the busy travel schedule, the jet lag, and last night's incessant thunderstorms, I haven't really slept in a week and I'm really exhausted...

The route planned for tonight is the hilliest 41 miles the ride leader could come up with, including at least four 20% grades...

Today it poured rain all day and they were forecasting more severe thunderstorms for tonight, so I'd kind of gotten in a mindset where I thought the ride wasn't going to happen and I was happy about that...

and even though it stopped raining late this afternoon, the roads are still wet, and what I hate about riding in the rain isn't the water at all, but the cleanup afterward...

so is it okay I'm not on my bike right now? even though I missed the club ride on Saturday and I'm going to miss this Saturday too?

Yes it is OK to miss the club ride tonight. You're tired. Give your body a rest. You have had plenty of exercise just yesterday and today.

I just began a fitness boot camp on Monday. My body is down right sore. I'm missing the club ride; even though I had planned on going earlier today. I have boot camp tomorrow am with a mt bike ride tomorrow afternoon.

Why go if it's not fun? It'd have to be pretty fun to offset the funk you were feeling about it.

If you went, you would be a slave to your schedule.

The absolute coolest thing about being a grown up is that you get to decide - "Hey! Wouldn't extra SLEEP be a healthy idea!!"

Sleep deprivation is highly overrated, or underbashed. If a quick ride might have made you wind down and sleep better, that's one thing.

The rule is that if you skip the ride you have to make good on getting rest

Yep - listening to your body is the smart thing to do. You've done a lot. You have a lot planned. If you want to ride, go for a short, fun, easy ride. Don't push too hard.

    Thanks Mom

no really, thanks for the reminder to get off the stupid computer and go to sleep. I didn't even wake up until almost 8:00 this morning which never happens unless I'm really sleep-deprived.

and thanks all for the validation.

Now it's off to the dentist - probably going to need yet another crown

Gosh, I have no clue WHY you would even ride? Sounds like everything was pointing towards... don't go!

    I wouldn't have gone.

Shoot, I had to ride 1:20 tonight on the trainer. I was having a hard time of it and my speed was slower than usually. Just couldn't get my HR up, and I was NOT into it. So I called it quits after 45 minutes. No guilt.
