    Question Best/funniest bike accessories?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I just signed up for my first charity ride (the MS150 Cycle to the Shore), so I need to raise some funds!

I was thinking about doing a "Pimp my Ride" thing where friends and family could "sponsor" some sort of silly/funny accessory for my bike (i.e. crazy streamers, a really crazy bell/horn, etc.). People always seem to be more than happy to pay for the chance to embarrass someone (or maybe that's just my family, lol).

Any ideas of accessories that might get a good laugh, but won't be too obnoxious over a long ride?

I drove past a group ride a few weeks ago that was lead by a guy with a spinning disco ball attached to a pole which was attached to his bike. I bet a lot of people would pay money to see you tooling around w/ a disco ball...

How about a bubble machine? Not too obnoxious for you, plenty obnoxious for anyone trying to suck your wheel

How much room do you have on your bike? Racks, front/rear? Just handlebar space?

Ooh - disco ball and a bubble machine! If I have my Xtracycle by then I could add this and I would be a party on wheels! I don't have a rack as of yet, but I'm thinking of adding one on the rear. And then there are the handlebars. And a helmet.

Thong underwear... on top of your bike shorts. Golden. Or pink?

Archie McPhee! The Seattle to Portland riders always have lots of fun McPhee-type toys on their bikes and/or helmets. We have a plastic Gamara on the back rack of our tandem, complete with little fireball he's spitting at the bad guys.

There is no greater benefactor than Archie for this stuff--
