Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum but not new to cycling and not new to Team Estrogen, as my wallet will tell you. I started MTBing in my late teens and moved into road riding in my mid twenties. I began really becoming a serious and dedicated road rider and began racing with a very strong women's team in my mid twenties. I loved it and was having the time of my life. At 29 while in the best shape of my life thankfully, I had a near fatal cycling accident that took me out of commission for about two years. It was bad, no one thought I would live let alone recover enough to live a normal life and RIDE AGAIN. I was riding on a trainer a few days after coming home from the hospital. I did not ride again outside for another two years and at that time found out I was pregnant so I took it easy. I exercised, did yoga, spinning, swam, while pregnant and afterwards and as soon as my son was old enough I had him on the bike with me. He is 3.5 now and most of our traveling is by bike, he is now in a trailer as he is too big for anything else. He has developed a love of biking as well and can rock it on his Like A Bike.
In the almost 6 years since my accident I have been itching to road ride again, but never like I have recently, so I just bought a new bike, a carbon fiber Orbea that I will be doing the final fit tweaking of and picking up tomorrow! I cannot wait to get on the road again! So if anybody is in the Philly area and wants to hit the road with an old newbie, let me know!
