    Speed Laces?

    Do I need these?

I'm compiling my order for TE. I've got a whole list of little things to get.

If you could get anything you wanted for your tris, what would be on your list to make your life easier?

I put cheapo $1 cord locks from REI on my laces and they work just fine. When I move on to the next pair of shoes, I just move the cord locks over to the new laces.

That being said, some sort of quick lacing system like that is very usefull. You tie your shoes quickly and (most important) they stay tied.

Another cheap but useful thing is a race belt. It saves having to deal with pins or having to change shirts to have your race number on your body. You just grab it in T2, snap it on, and go. I have it sitting on my running shoes so I don't forget it.

I would put these at the top of my list for making a tri transition faster.

I just bought some and I love them. (I'm going to get some for my son who destroys the backs of his shoes.)

instead of a race belt you can use a piece of elastic you can get at sewing stores. 1$ or so. if you get black no one can tell.

No, you don't need them, but I find them useful. I have the Speed Laces (non elastic) from here at TE.

I use Yankz. They are elastic laces and I love them. But they're all I've ever used so I can't really compare to speed laces or other methods. All I know is that tying my shoe is the last thing I want to worry about at T2.

I don't like the elastic laces either, I prefer the cord locks. I got them at the local sewing store. For me it's easier to have the laces loosened to get my feet in and them tighten them.

    Thumbs up I love them!

I have elastic speed-laces and I love them.

It was much easier to be able to open my shoes wide up in the transition area so that coming out of the water I could slide my foot right in and pull the tab to tighten them.

To me the elastic is nice because if I accidently tighten the tab to far down the elastic has a little give so I'm able to keep going without adjusting it.

I can't tell you how many times I had to stop during running races to tie my shoes. If only I had found these before I started doing triathlons. Now I just leave them on my shoes for good.
