    the Joy of Failure...

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I am about to embark on maybe one of the hardest things I have ever done on a mtbike...it has been said to be slightly easier than the Off-Road Assault on Mt Mitchell which I have done and can't wait to tackle it again in attempt to beat my time!

My next adventure is the Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventure Race. It is a collection of about 7 checkpoints...2 mandatory of which you must get one...you can get as little as 4 total...in a given amount of time (12-14 hours) The number of checkpoints and their locations are not revealed until the start of the race.

My and my team-mates goal? to finish!!!

...a good article on the Joy of Failure:

Pisgah sounds really nice from everything I've heard. Would like to ride there someday.

Anyway, good luck! I'm sure you'll surprise yourself in the end

If you do your best, can you really call the results failure?

Looks like tons of fun in that pukey, painful sort of way.

Hey, we are thinking about coming down to Ashville on vaca this summer, and bringing our bikes. Want to show the DH and I around?

That was the point of the post...the JOY is actually getting out there and attempting something that may very easily result in failure. My season has been full of failures but in a joyous way...I know I am out there doing what alot of people won't even consider!!! And every failure is a learning experience to get out there and do better!!!

    From the website:
There will be little to no water or food support on course. Once you leave the start/finish you are on your own. There will be no drops, sag wagons, or other outside support available. Be prepared for any circumstances you may encounter including, but not limited to: medical emergencies, navigational errors, inoperable equipment, wild animals, and stinging/poisonous insects and plants. AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT UNDER- ESTIMATE THE EXTREME DIFFICULTY OF THIS EVENT.
Oh my golly!! If I tried this, they would have to send a Search and Recover team after me.

Yeah, I skimmed the first few sentences. I guess it's just a semantics thing. The word failure, well, it's negative. I knew what the article was trying to convey, but I couldn't get past the word. I doubt I would call whatever it was you had failures =)

I know when I am not successful in an endeavor, I work harder to be successful, so I guess that is what they are trying to say. Whatever it is, good luck Bouncy! You are so cool...
