Cross bike recommendations & sizing

I don't know if I'm technically in the market yet, but if I hypothetically were...

1. What makes / models of cross bikes do you guys like? I'd be using the bike for gravel riding as well as cross courses.

2. I've heard that most people fit better on a cross bike with a frame that's 2-3 cm smaller than their road frame. Has this been true for you?

The fall cross season is starting to look like too much fun to miss...

Uh, yeah...just looked on the Cyclocross section of the forum...

Unless anyone has other suggestions, I'll just go there for ideas.
