Wanted: Dual-sided platform pedals

My 14 yr. old son is now riding my Giant hardtail mountain bike but needs dual-sided platform pedals, not my SPD's. Anyone have an old pair collecting dust they would consider selling? Thanks!

I might, BAT. I just took them off my hybrid before I sold it and have been using my Crank Brothers Candy C on the new bike. I have the pedals sitting on my shelf for "just in case." My Candies were my "just in case" pair though and now they are on my current bike. The ones I have are these Forte Campus Pedals. Is this what you're looking for?

Thanks! for the offer but those are still SPD pedals and I need the flat platform pedals -- no special shoes required.

So you want platform on both sides? The weight of the clip on the Forte's usually causes the platform side to always be up, anyway.

Oh ... looked at Performance site and feel that pedals like the Forté M1 Pedal would be best for my son. I was hoping someone had a pair they were not using -- I know I used flat pedals with straps before going to SPD. I put the pedals on the bike, taking off the straps, but the pedals are still only 1-sided and makes my son uncomfortable having to "flip the pedal" around. I want him to be comfortable and empowered to ride ... not scared. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!

Oh, I see. You just want regular platform pedals. Those definitely should be easy to come by. Good luck!

Regular resin platform pedals are inexpensive enough that it might cost about the same to get them at a bike shop as it would to have a pair mailed from one of us.

If you frequent a LBS, you may want to ask the mechanic there if he has a new or used pair lying around that they would be willing to give you for $5 or so (you can probably get them for free if they know you.)

Yes, thanks -- have already talked to both LBS in my area and they are "on the search". Actually stopped by one LBS the other day and they couldn't find any and asked me to call them on Monday, after weekend, to see if any pop-up. You are right, they will give them to me or sell them to me for very little.

Sounds good. I actually got these from the dumpster of my LBS when I thought I needed new platforms for one of my old beater bikes. He lets me climb in there when I ask so I can look around for parts I need. They really do throw away some great things (I know, I know: I'm a dumpster diver- but it's a clean one if that makes things better ).
If you can't find any, it probably won't be THAT much to send. Just let me know if you'd like them- they have your name written all over them.

Last time I shipped a pair of pedals I spent $5 or $6 and used their videocassette-sized box. Granted that was nearly a year ago, but... it's a decent frame of reference.

I was able to find some pedals at my LBS. They aren't great but they will do the trick! Actually, I think your "dumpster pedals" are nicer than the ones I got, but sometimes you just have to go with the easy path.
