Lance to go for 7th in 2005

Just heard the news... Lance has announced his initial racing schedule and it includes the 2005 TdF. More importantly for those of us in the southeast, he's coming back to the Tour de Georgia All of the early speculation was that he wouldn't make it due to his desire to race the spring classics in Europe. It's great to hear he will be back!

Actually, I'm kind of sad. I wanted to see him race the Classics and the Giro.

Yeah, it would be nice to see him do the Classics and the Giro and I'm a little sad too that he's skipping some of that. I'm just being a little selfish... somewhat because I want to see him race again but also because I'd like to see the Tour de Georgia become a big success. It's still in its infancy (this is only the 3rd year) and when Lance decided to participate last year, many other teams/riders that might not have come decided to participate too. Kind of gave it a big boost to keep it from fading into obscurity. Another year of attention like that can only help.

does it mention if he's doing the T-Mobile aka San Francisco Grand Prix? We'll have to attempt the TE get together on that again.

well... I hope he STOMPS again! I got to be on the Champs Elysees last summer for the final day of the Tour... and WOW! It is so amazing to see the peleton in person... you always have your favorites but I was rooting for ALL of them... my face hurt from smiling by the end of that day!

I think it's not so surprising he is doing the Tour again... new sponsors ya know... they need to get their $10 million worth... I, too, would love to see Lance in some of the other classics but also understand Discovery's desire to have him back at the Tour... he's a money making machine for the sponsors... glad he's riding Georgia again... and hope they'll televise that too!

thanks for posting this... I knew he said on Oprah he was riding a 7th but he didn't say at that time whether that was this year or not!
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".

The article I saw only mentioned 4 races, nothing after the TdF. It said he would likely add more races to his schedule after assessing his fitness.
