No I don't work at a hospital right now.
At a construction site. Yesterday morning suspected something happened when heard Safety Manager incredulous over his cell phone..."What a dead body? Can I get some more factual information here".. Then I didn't bother to listen...because ...I was busy and didn't want to pry in other dept.'s business. After all, all sorts of unusual things have happened at our worksite. I know he went out..and later there was a helicopter flying real low over our office buildings. It looked like a news reporting chopper..and it was.
All sorts of stories that happen on construction sites..
Found dead body of woman..body already covered in abit of ice. This whole area is at the edge of suburb, in an industrial area. Police investigation right now. Frankly this awful, her body was found under a highway bridge being constructed. It's not an area ...ANY woman except for female employees would be walking about...because it's non-residential, some bush, river banks, tons of construction machinery (Huge freakin' highrise height cranes and caterpillars).

That is disconcerting.
On the weekend a woman's body was found not too far from the bike path, just over a km from my house. It makes me glad to be safe and warm in my house tonight.
SS - I'm sending butterflies to you and your co-workers to keep you safe. I suspect that the body was dumped there (sorry for the graceless words), and that your construction area is really not that unsafe.
Take care of you!
Hugs and butterflies,

LBTC --news was on radio, newspaper, etc.
Sometimes things happen...and other employees don't really know until next day or so. I know this sounds strange..but we have 4 different work sites...in the area. Because of person's details and certain things under inspection / investigation / involving contract claims, some key employees just prefer not to talk too much too soon.
Of course there are real interesting talkable animal stories ....red salmanders that we have to salvage for environmental protection compliance, the llama that pooped onto our construction site, or the wild rabbit that was just outside our office window, the lamb running around lost on a construction rd., etc. We are at the mouth of the Fraser River where 1 million salmon swim upstream from Pacific.
So you're in Vernon...we were at Silver Star ski mountain area, snowshoeing for a few days 3 Christmases ago. I heard about the ski chairlift accident involving a boy.

I'm sorry to hear you're so close to the scene, so to say...
It can be quite traumatic for all those involved. I'm always angered by all the women who get killed in this city (and elsewhere, but I had never seen anything like this in the East).![]()
SS - I wonder if anything can be intergrated into your worksafe policies for your construction area in light of the unusual and potentially dangerous situation? It might be worth looking into. Other than this terrible incident, it sounds like you're working in a beautiful location.
I've heard the boy who was injured at Silver Star is improving. I don't think he's listed in critical condition anymore. I don't downhill ski anymore, so I don't know what that chair and exit are like. I imagine the resort is taking a good look at how they can prevent any further accidents. Yikes!
We've been in Vernon not quite two years. It's great here!

Case still under investigation. But where they found the body..well GEEZ, I walked by it probably 3 times on my way to and from work..I probably passed by it less than 80 ft. away.
Try to imagine the piles of construction materials, potholes, uneven sand, huge puddles of mud, cut logs as barrier, concrete road barriers, standing equipment, scaffolding and semi-dark overhang of a highway bridge deck being built overhead..as you walk around a road corner at ....twilight. Road has no sidewalks. Lots of transport trucks, mammoth construction cranes and backhoe machines, caterpillars turn around the corner, which is why I skidaddle to go around the corner whenever it's quiet /safe for ...usually only 1 min. I do occasionally turn on a little red blinking LED light that I wear hanging from my knapsack purse.
It's so busy at that corner near where the body laid, that they do have a traffic flag person there often.
The body was there since approx. this past Sunday. Person was missing since last week Friday night. Frozen body was found on Tuesday morning by a construction worker. She was identified as someone who lived near the site.
Case still under investigation.
