Coffee or tea exchange in Jan?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

My secret sister was so happy with this coffee i sent her (it is locally roasted) so we are doing a coffee exchange right now. I am sending her 2 pounds and she is sending me some. We are both excited about it. We were thinking it would be fun to do an exchange and send local favorite or or tea in exchange for someone else's favorite. Is anyone interested? It is not really a secret sister thing but would be fun anyway? Pm me if you are interested and I will set it up in Jan.
I guess hot chocolate would work too! Good way to ring in the New Year!
When you pm me make sure you send me what you would like and your address. I will let you all know if it works out or not..

I'm in. I so love this idea. Not only do I get to share some of the great roasters that we have in the area, but I get someone to be a victim to try my home roasts too.

I would love to join in! I don't know much about coffee (although I quite enjoy drinking it), but would be happy to supply tea to anyone interested. I do live in England after all, and they do make good tea.

I already sent a couple of PM's to Brandi

I'm in, but coffee and I sadly don't get along. Would be happy to send good tea or hot chocolate to anyone, though!

Just a thought, but maybe in our PM to Brandi we should specify coffee, tea, or chocolate, or combinations thereof. So then when she sends out the exchange assignments you'll know what to send. I'm trying to keep the sorting work off Brandi, sounds too much like herding cats, if she tried to match coffee drinkers with just coffee drinkers. So if I got the name of a tea drinker, I would send her/him tea, no problem. Meanwhile I'd look forward to a surprise, cause I like all three.

I did include the information in my PM Poor Brandi - I think trying to get TE to do anything *is* like herding cats. I'd be happy to send coffee to someone too, but (sadly) can't drink it myself.

Definatly let me know what you want. I am thinking the cut off date for pming me will be shorter then last time. let's say by the 15th of this month. I will send you your exchange buddies as we go along. Oh also if you want decaf or maybe light or stronge coffee. Just let me know!

For the coffee - to grind or not to grind? I'm guessing not everyone owns a coffee grinder. And if you're preference is for ground coffee - what type of grind do you need? Drip? Moka pot? Espresso? Aeropress? Turkish? Or are you a press pot kind of girl?

    Caffeinated or Decaf?

OK, this got me to delurk again after weeks of reading silently. It sounds like fun, and we have a locally-roasted bike-delivered brand that would be perfect for the exchange.

As far as ground v. beans, I'd think beans would be easier to ship without worrying about the package breaking and coffee everywhere, although I guess if it comes vacuum-packed that's probably not too big a concern. As far as decaf... what is this decaf you speak of?

Coffee can be more than a caffeine delivery system! It can be a culinary delight. There are some tasty artisan roasted decaf out there. 'Course the caffeine is an added benefit.

This is the best idea ever!!

I used to wonder why anyone would drink decaf until I found out caffeine was a migraine trigger. I still haven't found a decaf that tastes nearly as delicious as caffeinated coffee, I'll keep looking though.

I can't wait to go find some good stuff to send to someone!
