    First 20-mile ride today!

Howdy.......Just had to share a milestone with other new riders on TE: Did my first 20-mile ride today! And felt terrific at the end! (Not to mention starving....Fortunately I had some leftover Halloween candy in my truck...)

I started riding last February after a 10-year break and have been slowly building up mileage by riding 4 to 5 days a week. I did two 16 mile rides in the past couple of weeks and thought I'd push myself a little to see if I could hit 20 today. It WAS a push but not as hard as I thought it might be. My only disappointment was that the cadence part of the Cateye cyclocomputer I installed last night didn't kick in. Probably just needs a little adjusting. But it measured my mph and distance jusssst fine!! Next goal: a 25-miler two weekends from now.

Thanks for all of the inspiration I get here on TE---from vets and newbies alike!

Thanks, everybody, for the congrats! You've made my day! I would celebrate my milestone by buying myself something special, but I already did---ahead of time---via shameless self-indulgence during this week's Terry 50% off sale!

I'll definitely take some healthy nibbles with me on my next long jaunt.......I was fine until I hit about mile 17 or 18. Right about then, I started to hear tiny Hershey's chocolate bars calling to me from my truck!

Congratulation! You have every right to be proud of yourself! I'll bet the mind had a lot to do with you reaching your goal. It's amazing what we can do when we set our minds too it....our bodies just seem to tag along for the ride.

Kathi - congratulations on the milestone and keep us posted on your progress.

Tomorrow looks like it will be a good day for another ride - 70 degrees!
