    Brrr...it's time to train inside

It's getting chilly here and it takes a while to get bundled up to ride outside and a little while longer to motivate so I'm about ready to move inside to the trainer. BUT it's so boring! Does anyone have any training dvds to recommend?

Lots of folks like the Spinervals DVD's - several have used them as training for rather epic rides

Or, you could check the warm clothing threads and keep riding outside (what I plan to do this winter - assuming we *every* get cool temperatures - we're set for *another* record high here in NC)

How cold are you talkin' ?
We invested in some good thin soft layers of merino wool clothing last year and were able to ride all through our NE winter down to 28 degrees or so as long as the roads were clear of ice and snow. It's FUN to ride in the cold if you have warm comfortable clothes. When the snows came I went snowshoeing.

I actually kinda enjoy riding the trainer in the cooler months because I am a wimp about chilly wind and just getting started outdoors in the winter seems like too big a deal. Plus it's dark after work once daylight savings time is over so the trainer is my only option mid-week.

I used to do a lot of Spinervals, but the music on those is really lacking, so last year I had more fun riding to real music instead of Spinervals. My DH puts together great CD mixes with music he downloads from Napster; mostly alternative rock, and we set up our bikes on trainers next to each other and hammer away. The music really get us moving and inspires us to push harder. You just can't feel unmotivated with the right music -- whatever makes you feel like dancing will feel just right for riding too!

Of course, as CA says, it's not cold in NC yet at all, but I'm NOT complaining. I'm loving this "endless summer". Went mountain biking after work Tuesday, and there was just the slightest fall chill in the air at the end of the ride -- perfect for me. I don't like cold weather!
