    Oct 8 Rides

Today is the first official day of my fall break and I decided to go for a nice long ride! I left my home town of Shelbyville and traveled some familiar roads to the town of Eminence from there I traveled to Pleasureville passed through Cropper and returned home. I logged 35 miles today. What a great day to be on my bike - a high pressure system showered us in clear blue skies. It is unusually warm here, well hot is more like it 90 F. My ride took me through what is typically some beautiful countryside however the drought has taken it toll and left is mark on the land. Pastures are bone dry and brown, ponds have totally disappeared or dropped unbelievable levels, and the green vegetation is fading fast. It really broke my heart - hard not to believe in global warming at this point. Here it is Oct and it is as hot as it was back in July. However, I stilled enjoyed my ride - so nice not to be at work and better yet not feeling rushed to get a ride in before the sunsets. I'm looking forward to the next couple of days for I plan on participating in several club rides - my last shot at a strong week of mileage I fear. Hope my legs can hold up for all I have planned!
