Hey all-
Ok, most of you prolly know that I went to Interbike the bicycle industry trade show this past week.
I saw a TON of cool things that us tri geeks would LOVE!!
First of all, if you are in the market for a new tri bike, there are two sweet new options.
Quintana Roo has a 'Chicquilo' which is the female version of the Kilo. It has a sweet pink and steel grey paint scheme.
And the Dulce, which is the female version of my bike, the seduza. It's an off white and baby blue paint scheme. VERY SWEET!
Giant also has some womens specific tri bikes, and these are true WOMEN SPECIFIC. I met the woman that's in charge of the womans specific line, and she has it going on! She's actually an expert bike mechanic and teaches at a bike school. She knows her stuff and I look forward to riding a giant tri bike when we bring the brand on.
In the aerobars Profile design has vastly improved their arm rest pads, and they have some sweet new carbon options.
For hydration FSA has created a carbon fiber pod that goes under the aerobar extensions. It has two ports and two insulated straws, so it holds two different drinks. The inside has a camelbak like bladder. It was very aero looking, and peaked my interest.
There is also a new set up called "sip stream" that will be coming out in January. It's a water bottle that you mount in their cage upside down. There is a piston on the cage that opens up the water bottle and releases the drink into a camelbak like tubing. The tube runs up the down tube, stem area and attaches to a plastic piece that in mounted on the stem or handle bars. Like the FSA model it has an insulated straw that you drink from and is highly adjustable. This will be out mid january and was one of my favorite things.
Camelbak has a waterbottle that looks like your average water bottle, only the top easily twists into an open position. So you can twist it open, place it in your cage, and then when you drink just squeeze the bottle- no sucking needed!![]()
As for new food, clif bar ROCKS! They have come out with "Luna Moons" in blueberry, pomegrante, watermelon, and either strawberry or cherry. They are like the clif bloks- only BETTER! I munched on these everytime I went by the booth! They also have some new Luna branded drinks, including a hot chocolate recovery drink just in time for winter!
Clif bar ROCKS!!
For clothing I was not impressed with the major brands. I didn't make it over to PI, but shebeest, sheila moon, Terry, and Sugoi only had a couple of items each that even halfway interested me. I thought of Susan A LOT when I was looking at the show wondering what she was going to buy.
The smaller brands had some GREAT new designs tho! Skirt sports has some AWESOME new bike jerseys! As did a brand called "dude girl" and "Loeka".
I'm always on the lookout for eye catching jerseys and stuff. Most of the majors didn't do much for me.
Ok, so that is all I can think of now. I'll post all my pics on my photobucket site when I have a chance so you can see what I'm trying to describe.
Oh- one last thing! I met both Norman Stadler (JERK) and Thorbjorn Sinballe (SWEET guy!). They both look primed and ready for Kona. Tho after Stadler was rude to me I almost ripped up the autographed pic in his face and said " I hope Macca kicks your ASZ!!!!"... Yeah, he was THAT rude!![]()
Oh- and I told thunderbear (thorbjorn) "do me a favor.... KICK Stadlers BUTT!" He gave me a HUGE smile and said "I'll do my best"... heh heh heh
Sounds like a lot of cool stuff! Can't wait to see the pics.

The FSA aero bottle looks weird, but cool. The sip stream doesn't seem like it'd do much more than getting your water bottle (and much more difficult to refill), but perhaps I'm just not looking at it right.
The QR bikes- DANG! Those are sweet looking rides. Make me wish I'd waited to get one of those puppies. They are niiiiiiccee!![]()
Stadler sure is purty for a boy. And that new bike of his is pretty cool looking. The repositioning of the drop outs and seat stays make the bike look so weird. I saw it next to his old bike and it looks so strange.
Thanks for the pics! Wish I could've been there drooling over all the cool bike stuff with ya!

The sip stream is a cool idea for nerds like me that like hands free, and who doesn't like the front aerobottle. BUT you have to use their water bottle to make it work. I do like the functionality of the front straw and clamp tho. very easy to manuever. But my never reach holds 64 ounces, and this one you would have to swap out bottles.
As for Norman, boy was he a JERK to me. I didn't like him much since I saw him throw a hissy fit in kona a few years ago on the nbc coverage. And then last year when he spoke bad about Macca at the post race press conference, I really had a bad feeling about him. Well my feeling was RIGHT.
He was just a big ol jerk! I'm going to be rooting for Macca (or anyone for that matter) to kick his butt this year!! I SOO hope that madame pele shows him what karma is!![]()
Anyway, yeah Interbike was cool. LOTS of work, and I came home with BOXES of stuff! Mostly new dealer kits and brochures. But I did score some cool swag as well. In fact we won a GO PRO video camera. It mounts on your wrist in a waterproof housing (to 100 feet!), but the helmet bracket is coming out in mid November, so we can turn it into a helmet cam. It's WAY cool!

Root for Cameron Brown.![]()
Drink coffee and do stupid things faster with more energy.
Oh yeah Cam Brown. He's kinda like Thorbjorn, always nipping at the heels but never quite there...
Denise,
Cool report! Can anyone go to Interbike or do you have to be invited?
Also, another q for you: where did you find a nutritionist, do you meet in person or on-line/phone assistance? I am considering doing the same but significantly fewer resources here in Alabama than in Arizona.
take care,
Laura

Hey Laura-
It's an Industry show, so you have to be connected some way to the industry. Tho I did see A LOT of people roaming around that made me wonder how they got in?? So maybe it's not so hard?
As for the nutritionist, I was given a referral through my doctor.
AL has a ton of healthcare options out there I thought? I know Healthsouth is based there. - But they are a rehab hospital I guess.
But don't they have some big med schools? I would think it wouldn't be too hard? hmmm....
Denise,
Thanks, I will check w/ one of my friends who works at Auburn University. Just hoping it is not terribly expensive!
Laura
Industry people are able to get and pay for passes for other people they vouch for - so those people end up at interbike. That's how I have gone in the past.
When you get your shop opened, I'd like to come check it out when I passing through Phoenix.
Keep us posted.

Norman being a JERK... PART II... this is from a guy's blog who is in Kona right now about to race this weekend. Here is his encounter with Norman, I thought you would appreciate it RM:
http://ironmensch.blogspot.com/So, this morning I'm sitting at Lava Java having my morning coffee, when a Dresdner Kleinwort flunkie comes by. That's Normann Stadtler's team, the ones who flanked him earlier to keep the nobodies away. They all have fully matching outfits, which seem to change every day. People are talking about how the team has taken over the Four Seasons, and are 'clearing' other cyclists ahead of Normann when he goes out for a ride. Anyway, he drops a little menu card on my table. I'll put a picture up, but here's the text:
RESERVED
Aloha!!! This table is respectfully RESERVED: 8-10am, Wednesday October 10th through Sunday October 14th, 2007 for the Dresdner Kleinwort Triathlon Team, Guests and Media Only. Mahalo for your cooperation!"
Shmucks. They're annexing Lava Java. It's a little bit like 'buying' Ray's Pizza for the Nike athletes to carbo load before the NYC marathon without waiting in line with the commoners. The money they have to throw around didn't give this particular German bank and set of athletes any class at all, and I'm definitely not rooting for Normann or his teammates any more.
Get him, Macca! See if you can top the Lance 'look' as you go by. Make sure they get it on film.
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside thoroughly used-up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!!"
I know the team.. It's all over his new bike. He was also in their team garb. The colors are green and white.
I certainly hope the fellow didn't kick this guy out of his table! SHEESH!!
I stand by what I said earlier.... HE's an ASZ!!! I REALLY want Macca to finally step up, but at this point I just want ANYONE other than Stadler!!!
Thanks for that!![]()
