51 at 6:30 AM here. It's overcast and that's keeping it a bit warmer. Last week it was in the low 40s at this time.
Now you know why we won't move back to Maine no matter how much our parents would love it.So selfish.

Okay, it is 27 degrees here this morning. What is it like for the rest of you where you live? I got a ride in this weekend and it might hit 57 on Thursday but the days are dwindling for us New Englanders.

53 here in Houston with a high today of 76. I love the warm south!!!!
I grew up in the Berkshires in Western MA. I used to get a bit homesick in the fall, but not having to live through the winters definitely makes up for it.
I wouldn't mind going back for a cycling trip some autumn - though the thought of sharing the roads with cars whose drivers are staring at the foliage rather than paying attention to the road gives me pause ... heck, it was scary enough avoiding the leaf-peepers back when I was driving, much less cycling![]()

time to switch to my fleecy leggings!
it's a brisk 50 at 0700. rained last night and everything is muddy. was in the 40's last week, but again with the clouds, it's a bit warmer.

I just moved to the south this summer. Nonethless, it was 38 this morning, going up only to 55. I have already switched to my fleecy tops. I'm always cold!
a whopping 18 degrees when i left for work at 7 this morning. bumped up to 20 by the time i got there! the cable on my cruiser's rear derailleur is broken anyway (and the chain stuck in the tiny cog--- and my frame weighs about 1,000 lbs! not the ideal single-speed, gear ratios aside) so i had a legit excuse to take the bus, besides the temperature (my mtn bike is currently without chain thanks to the incredible mud in western PA two weeks agoand my road bike.... okay, so i could have ridden that one, i'm just feeling lazy lately

)
right now (4:30) it's at 38... i'm hoping that it won't snow on friday, because i wanted to have one (actually- two, mtn and road) last girls-only ride with my club chicas on saturday!!!
I dashed out for a quick 10 miles at 1:30 this afternoon when the temp. had finally gotten up to 43F. I felt OK once I got going, but felt like I was riding into the wind no matter which way I was facing!
Thursday is a holiday, so my 2 friends and I will definitely be doing 30 miles or so, since it is predicted to be a balmy 57F! However, it's time to invest in a trainer...the juncos showed up at the bird feeder today...not a good sign!
It was cold here last week - re: wind chills in the lower 20s but it warmed up over the weekend. This morning it was a balmy 57 when I left for work. It is now 4:00 and the temp has dropped from 59 to 48 in 4 hrs and there is no sun and its raining. I don't have Any cold weather gear with me - it wasn't supposed to do this until later tonight - so I wussed out and 1 of the guys is taking me home!![]()
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
It was in the 50's when I rode to work this morning, and upper 60's on the way home. A very pleasant day in Phoenix, the kind we suffer through the summer heat in order to enjoy! You couldn't ask for better riding weather. Too bad I had to work in between rides!
Thanks girls, I don't feel quite so bad now. I didn't see any 70's or above yet. I think you win the prize for coldest so far fultzie. Brrrrr. Suppose to have record lows here in Massachusetts tonight. The older I get (I'm in the over 40 crowd) the more I hate the cold!!!!!!
High 30s this morning, creeping into the 50s this afternoon in the midwest. I had to drive since I had work-related errands to run, so I missed the commute.![]()
One of my riding pals just got back from St. John. She said it was icky... hot (80s) and humid.
Oddly enough...the older I get the more I like the cold.

Surly:
I'm with you, it's time we head south. On New Years I did resolve to keep riding in the cold and the snow but I don't know how long I will be able to tolerate it. I did not ride this morning as the temp. read 21 at seven this morning. It is supposed to be 60 tomorrow so my son and I will probably get a ride in if he can resolve his pedal issues. I love New England but I hate the damn cold.
Jo, where in western MA. are you from?? I spent a lot of time out there. V we are headed to the great state of Maine this weekend. Holiday shopping at L.L. Need to upgrade the kids winter coats!

OMG!! I've just found a handy chart for converting fahrenheit to centigrade and realised you ladies are talking about some seriously chilly weather!!!Hats off to you all for keeping riding. On second thoughts maybe you should keep those hats on - you might need them.
Here on the South Coast of England it's toasty10 C which is about 46F and for the first time this autumn I wore my woolly hat and scalf when I walked into town.
Brrrrrrrr - keep warm all.
