    Chiggers again!

I am totally obsessed with mountain biking this year. My poor road bike is completely getting neglected. The one down side to mountain biking that I have found here in Missouri is CHIGGERS!! Oh, these are nasty, mean creatures. I know we had this discussion before but yuk!!

The last time I got them was on a local trail called Chubb. This time was at Greensfelder. Even one of my co-workers was hiking there the other evening and picked them up. So now we are both helping customers, scratching our legs like flea ridden dogs.

Off to put ChiggerX on them - after coating them with clear fingernail polish.

I can really sympathize. I am itching like crazy from flea and mosquito bites (i know, TMI) but imagine how our ancestors had to live without repellents and stuff??? itch itch itch!

*Rave shudders at thought of chiggers and memories of last thread*

    gaaargh....

*turns abruptly away from thread, walks quickly in opposite direction and thinks how fantastic it is that there is not chiggery in NZ, and that chiggerishness and chiggerostitude is something I do not have to deal with*

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".

We have chiggers in the mulch all over our wooded yard. It's been a terrible summer for them. I finally just stopped doing yard work when it got too hot, and voila...no more chiggers! I do feel for you, though; they are the most awful little creatures!

I've been lucky not to get any chiggers while mountain biking....so far!

I walked into a fixture at work today and put a nice puncture wound on my shin. Our insurance minded controller wanted me to get it checked since I could not remember when I had my last tetanus shot. So I go to one of those fast clinics and have a doctor look at my little wound. He looks around my ankles on both feet and asks whats up? Chiggers!!! His reply - nasty critters.

My right leg is starting to look like a war zone.
