Bike Makeover - What's a girl to do?

Hey gals, I went to the bike shop the other day and I have a terrible case of the wants. Mostly, the want to piss of the ex-boyfriend with all my cool new stuff. Bike shops boy's idea, "Well, you could get some Mavic Crossmax SLs and say, 'Oh, yeah, I got these new wheels, they're Mavic Cross something, Cross Max, yeah, they're okay."

Oh sure, it would be the most fun ever, but I dunno. Here's my thing, I really would love the Cross Max, but that is a lot of money, even at my girly discount price. So these are my choices, I can buy the ungodly expensive wheelset, and be happy as a clam at high tide, or, for a little bit more than that I can totally make over Pony with:

    -Race Face Deus XC crankset
    -Mavic Cross Lan Wheelset
    -Shimanon XT cassette
    -New undetermined chain
    -New undetermined (Michelen) tubless tires

I dunno though, am I gonna regret going halfway to the CrossMax, is it really worth it? I'm thinking the makeover sounds like the better idea. Actually, a roadbike sounds like a better idea, but I love Pony soooooo much. Ack!

Really P*ss him off - get a custom road bike, campy bits, the whole enchilada.

Are you not on a road bike? If not, I'd start there. Seriously. Your other bike probably needs the company while you're away at work anyway.

Thought I'd carry this topic forth...

So, Dita introduced me to her favorite "wrenchboy" while I was out left and he did the safety check on my sweet Epesi before the Cinderella. I gotta say, the boy is FAB! He's a walking Encyclopedia Cycliste and I love the tidbits of info that fall effortlessly from his brain.

As I was on the course cursing my "granny" gear, as I have cursed it before, I began the mental Bike Makeover. Since Chris, said wrench, has my bike to breakdown and ship back to me I've been having an email exchange on what to do.

I've decided to have Dr. Chris take Epesi's Ultegra 53-39 crank off and replace it with the FSA Gossamer (alloy... can't afford the carbon right now) Compact 50-34 and continue to run my Ultegra 12-27 cassette.

Epesi's first facelift... and I've had her only a year. And I won't have my bike for another week, but that's why god gave us gyms.

Dita... please visit my baby in the hospital. I think she has her surgery on Mon or Tues.
    no regrets!
