    my latest bike poem

    I'm just warming up
    spinning up the country road
in the golden slant of late sun
green pickup truck lurks at the stop sign
oh, I have the right of way
but he'll probably floor it to beat me
    watch out
    but he doesn't
    he waits
    he waits

as I pass I call thanks
as I pass he smiles and waves
as I pass, his yellow wristband flashes

    I think I'm in love
    with the driver
    of a green pickup truck

It's funny, when someone yields the right of way to me, I always feel compelled to nod a thank you their way...

By the same token, I've never fallen in love with a man driving a green pick-up truck... Yellow wrist band or not

I fell in love with a man simultaneously riding his bike and walking his dog on the C&O Canal

Great poem! I wish I had a guy in a green truck to fall in love with!

I have a cycling related poem too, but I think I'll start another thread. You've inspired me to share my poetic skills (ha ha haaaaa HA!). My poem is not positive like yours because mine is about flat tires.

I agree. I'm very sorry for the hijack. I tried to edit my post to make sure you knew that, but my edit and smiles aren't working for some reason.

Great poem! It has all the elements of great poetic dramatic monologue, in the style of Robert Browning: exposition, conflict, climax, and resolution--not to mention romance.

Did you go "advanced"? You can't edit and add smiles without that here. Sorry for the hijack. Wish I could write so that it would be meaningful without smilies like Latelate. there, back OnT
