I promised Veronica an update about this. Yesterday, I got the excellent news that the Office for which I work will allow me to go on rotation to another Office. This new assignment is in a field outside of my career speciality and will give me a much-needed challenge, plus new skills that are more marketable after I retire from Fed'l service. Best of all, the manager of the office where I'll be working is simply wonderful---she cares about her people, will take the time to develop/mentor me, and is fair & kind. Quite the change from my current situation. This is the best of both worlds, as I can see if this new career discipline is something I enjoy. I have the option, at the end of the assignment, to either return to my home Office or pursue a permanent change to the new field.
The icing on the cake is that I can commute by bike!!! I can take MUT the whole way there!! It's 17 miles each way, so I figure that Monday mornings, I'll drive in. That will let me bring my bike, clothes for the week, lunch fixings, etc. Also, I'll have my car at work all week in case I have meetings at other bldgs. Monday afternoon thru Friday morning, I'll commute by bike, and Friday afternoons, I'll drive the car home.

Drink coffee and do stupid things faster with more energy.
Hey!!! That's excellent! I hope the new gig works just as you want it. Thanks for the update.

Oh, that's great! A a career or job location change can make a world of difference (I did it this year- and it's been a major blessing- made me fall in love with my profession again).
I hope that the commute is dreamy, that you LOVE your new assignment, and that it makes you truly happy all around!!!![]()

Thanks for the kind wishes. I'm thrilled about it, particularly because the new boss seems very focused on ensuring her employees succeed. Where I am now, it's the opposite **unless** you are one of the few "favorites."
Zen---I'll take the Custis west to the W&OD. Get off in Herndon, where I'll be on the road only a quarter mile or so. The building where I'll be working has a gym w/showers. It's a fairly new bldg so it should be nice.
