Lonely - my bike is in the shop

I miss my bike and I just feel like whining about it

She had to go to the shop today. She is skipping gears, shifting by herself, and making clicking noises in the back. Her front wheel is chirping like a bird. Her back tire is all worn out. I'm sure she'll be all better soon because my LBS is just wonderful and they assured me they'll take good care of her.

On the bright side, it's kind of a nice feeling to know that I've ridden her enough that she's ready for a tune-up. But she's not here in the house with me and I can't ride her tomorrow. I think I am officially in love with her. I am lonely without her! Boo hoo hoo, wah wah wah.

Maybe you should buy a sister bike, to keep your bike company and to keep you from suffering so much when one is in the shop.

My bike gets jealous when it has to compete with other bikes for attention, but likes having another bike to canoodle with.

I know the feeling, though. My bike was in the shop yesterday for fenders and for some chain issues. I had to drop her off Monday night, and it was really strange having that empty spot. *snif*

I have a friend with a stable full of bicycles because he likes to mess around with them and fix them up. I have a stable full of bicycles because I am really bad at fixing them, so I need to have enough bikes so one of 'em is working

We have four bikes right now and need to sell two Giant hybrids. We love our new road bikes and won't ride the Giant's enough to warrant keeping them.

It is nice to have another bike....or two.....or even three. Just think of it as bikes that have a specialty. One is for commuting, another for rainy days, another for fast, zippy rides and another........

It's too bad they don't actually breed...you know, you could buy that Specialized S-Works Tarmac to bring home to your Bianchi C2C distance bike, and a couple months later have that really fast, really comfortable new little ride to train up!

What other kinds of cross-breeding might be handy?

I don't really need different bikes for different kinds of riding. My one bike does most everything I would use it for. HOWEVER....I have had two occasions so far when my bike was "in the shop" and I just about went out of my mind not having a bike to ride! For that reason I am planning to get a second bike- to keep me sane when one bike needs to be in for repairs etc. Also for if one bike gets stolen some day (God forbid!).

I have 2 bikes and don't regret it. I was going to sell Pru when Bea came home. I debated to myself about selling or keeping. Pru even had a prospective buyer too. Decided that I needed a rainy day, occasional winter riding bike and Pru would do that in a heartbeat. AND if one's in the shop, I"m still satisfied-- It's all about me..

Whew! My most wonderfullest and fabulousest LBS fixed her all up in just 24 hours and I got to bring her back home. Unfortunately, it is blazing hot outside so I won't be riding her tonight. But I am very relieved to have her back in her place of honor in the spare bedroom. I do wish bikes would breed because a second bike may soon become a necessity.

Did I mention my awesome LBS? Only $15 in labor to true the back wheel, put on a new back tire, perform a full safety check, and make a few derailleur and brake adjustments. I was expecting a much higher bill. Placerville Bike Shop rocks!!!
