Yee ha! My fastest ever speed was exactly 26mph. It was on a downhill just coasting. It felt crazy fast. I'm always so amazed at the speeds the commentators mention during bike races.

I just got back from an easy 13 mile ride. It's my rest week before my big tri on Sunday. Most of the ride I stayed at 17-19 mph. But on the way back I got into a groove and pushed it up to 21.5. Then, a little over a mile from home, I thought to myself, I have a few gears left, I wonder how high up I can go and stay on top of the spin . . . ?
I managed to get up to 26 mph and keep her there for an entire 1.25 miles! I struggled to keep my spin and would waiver between spinning and mashing. I'm sure I couldn't have held it for too much longer. But, what a thrill!
And, yes, I had a little tail wind helpI remember when I started riding a few years ago and I was so thrilled because I had gotten up to 18 mph with a tail wind. I've come a long ways!

Who needs a motorcycle for speed when you have a road bike!? I prefer my bikie high the real way. Lungs, heart, bike, muscles, and determination all working together. It's so pure and is honest, hard-earned accomplishment.
My bike and I = power (no gas-burning engine for me).

Awesome time, limewave... now just keep that up for a few more miles (20-40km - I forget which age group you would fall into) and you could go pro-cycling and do time trials at international level!
Woohoo - seriously, I luuuurve it whan I can get up speed like that - but anything over 40kph on the flat is with a tail breeze - I have been up to 49kph with a tail wind on the flat - boy did I feel like I could thrash anyone in any road race! Such an awesome feeling to fly along knpowing your legs are what drives you.
Crazy fast is Crazy cool![]()
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".
