I sold my '97 Terry Symmetry today

I was kind of sad to see her go. She was a beautiful, strong, smooth bike in the color of iris. She still had her original equipment, including tires, shifters, chain and brake pads. I was so careful with her and kept her in top condition. The reason we parted? She was too small in the cockpit.

When I got my first real job, I started saving money for a nice bike. I studied the Terry's and found the perfect one. I thought the small front tire was kinda cool and I placed an order for her. Wouldn't you know, UPS went on national strike and she was held up in a warehouse for weeks? I finally got her though. I thought our rides together were fantastic. Then by the third year I knew I had outgrown her.

So now she went to a good home--a home where the husband is an avid cyclist and the wife was waiting for the perfect bike to put in the miles. So long, iris. I hope you and your new rider enjoy many miles together.

I can really relate. When the 20 something girl got on my Bianchi yesterday and was absolutely thrilled to be on such a cool bike, I felt sad and glad at the same time.
She did the STP (2 centuries in two days) twice on a piece of junk bike (her words) and getting onto the Bianchi for her was like getting into a sports car for the first time.
It's great to see our old bikes take on new lives...

Ah, but Mimi, all you had to do was turn around and see that BEAUTIFUL new custom bike. Everytime I look at those pics of yours, I think that has to be the most stunning bike I have ever seen!

Oh, boy. Don't I relate to that.
I still pine for my old Eros.
And, sure, I have a fancy new custom bike, too....but I'm hesitating at putting my old Seven up on the auction block. I don't suffer from "buyer's remorse"....I suffer from "seller's remorse".
So many miles, so many fun rides. It's like selling a part of yourself.
I'd love to see the bike continue to give long, happy miles...but ...
Oh, I'm soooo torn.

I haven't given up any of my bicycles. I just ride more with each one I get, it seems... they each have their niche, tho' my Schwinn Racer has been pining a bit.

Ah Sundial, its a strange feeling, isn't it.

I haven't sold my first bike - my 13 yr old is riding it now, but it felt strangly tearing inside to give it up...

We are in the process of seeling the first bike I ever bought for my partner - his second road bike. And its kind've bugging him too - its surplus to our requirements and we have upgraded bikes way beyond what this one can do for us.

But yet it bothers us all, doesn't it, to relinquish something we have spent so much time with. And I have felt almost traitorous (if thats a word??) when I have looked forward to a new bike, or had more pleasure riding a new bike than my lovely old red Scorpio.

Sounds like we all kind've sit in the same saddle when it comes to this attachment with our steeds.

Its great Iris has gone to a good home
