That's right, today, Silver won her age group for the Evansville YMCA Sprint Triathlon!
Not only this, she achieved a personal best with a total time of 1:39:41!
- 1/2 mile Swim - about 12 minutes
- 19.1 Mile Bike - about 56 minutes
- 3.1 Mile Run - about 25 minutes
- She shaved 11 minutes off last year's time with a 10 mph wind from the east
(Official Times not posted online)
Plus, several folks she coached and encouraged finished strong as well including a 20 year old who was the 8th woman to cross the finish line following Elaine's coaching on the bike!

That's a really cool result. How can you swim half a mile in 12 minutes - I'm awed... I am the one who needs to go and work on that swim![]()

I'd like to share a pic of when A. told me her bike time. She's so fast in the swim and run and has struggled to get speed on the bike.....but she's fierce in competition. She finished the bike in 1:00.

It's actually a bit short of a half mile. We've had a drought here and the lake is low making it smaller. I'd guess the average swim time was closer to 10 minutes. For me the important thing was that I didn't freak out. I did get bottled up (couldn't get a good space amougst the other swimmers to swim...I'm not strong enough to swim around and over others)a few times and treaded water for a moment to get reoriented, but I felt that I dealt with it without getting upset.

I'm impressed with all your times, but especially the transitions! Under a minute in T2? WHOA! I'm online at work (hospital), and it won't let me see pictures. I'll take a look when I get home. Congratulations!![]()
