    Getting Socks Clean

I'm sort of embarrassed to even ask this question because it shows a serious deficit in the department of domestic skills, but how do you get your light-colored cycling socks clean? My socks are dirt magnets, even on road rides, and I can't ever seem to get the socks white again. I did try Oxyclean or something that sounded like that. While it got dirt stains out of my t-shirts, it did nothing for my socks. I'm afraid bleach will ruin them, so I haven't tried it.

    Any suggestions?

If plain ol' washing in the machine doesn't do it, I pre-treat my socks with Dr. Bronner's Castile soap and leave them sit overnight. (eucalyptus soap works the best, for some reason). And if that doesn't work, I just ignore the problem and wear the dingy socks.

(my laundry world is simple: if Dr. Bronner's doesn't solve the problem, I pretend there is no problem. )

Don't wear white socks... Support some other odd colour..ya won't have to wash them as often...

I normally wear grey socks...I won't say how often i wear them either...

If you really do want to get those white sockies white..do they sell Napi-San in the US??? It works!!!

I usually throw a little bleach in with all of my non-delicate whites. My running/biking socks stay white!

Of course this means there are some white/light jerseys (and other things) that have to be a separate load (since I don't want to bleach them) that might otherwise be able to go in with the rest of the whites. But oh well.

    dirty socks

Very interesting, I have same question! I ruined a really cute pair of black/white Terry socks by MTB in them. I tried soaking them in Oxyclean and it did NOTHING.

I had never heard of NapiSan, so I looked it up on the Net. There are some US sites that carry it, www.simplyoz.com. And they carry varieties of TimTams too! Hmmm.
It's all about the journey (my reason for riding slower)
