    July 2nd rides

Took my Giro out today for a spin. Covered some of my favorite roads and gladly welcomed the 6 miles of flat, straight roads at the end. I rode 20.11 miles and averaged 15.4 mph.

Enjoyed the ride but am still unsure what I'm going to do with this bike, keep it or sell it. I'll keep riding it and maybe the answer will come to me as I breeze around exploring new routes and enjoying some set routes. I guess there is no big hurry in making this decision but would like to resolve it soon. So much pressure!

I rode a new 29 mile route today. Rolling hills with a road that looked like a checkerboard from tared cracks. Temp was up to 100 when I got back so it was warm. This road didn't offer any shade so I will leave earlier in the morning next time. Sights offered were beautiful wheat fields ready to combine and corn fields with lots of flies. I heard a snort and looked over to see a deer I'd scared in the corn field.

I posted about my first ride with my friend, who is a stronger rider than me ... but as it turns out ... not as much stronger as I anticipated! I'm thrilled that I kept up as well as I did. We did 30 miles at a 15.6 pace, my farthest and fastest. Definitely got hot as we rode, which wasn't too bad when we were in motion feeling the breeze. Every time we stopped at a signal on the way back it was like someone turned the heater on instantly!

Went out by myself after work for 25 very hilly miles. Loved the route - very little traffic and beautiful weather. About 82 degrees and no humidity. Averaged 15.5.

Well, I managed to pull a calf muscle about a week and a half ago. This really sucks as I'm training for a big ride in Colorado on the 14th. I've been in physical therapy to try to get my leg in shape enough for the ride.
Anyway, on the 2nd I finally got on the bike for the first time in two weeks and rode to my PT session (I got some looks of surprise from the therapist when I showed up on the bike)! It was only 8.2 miles round trip, but it was good to get back in the saddle. My calf is doggone sore today, though!

Got my first century in for the season. I'm really happy about that. It was on a flat course though. It had a few long but shallow grades.
