    June 26 rides

It's a beautiful morning and I decided to take advantage of it. The sun is out, temps in the mid 80's, humidity in the mid 50%, slight breeze and no clouds. So once I again I broke out of recovery prison and went for a ride. Today I rode 23.99 miles with an average speed of 16.45 mph. It is a fairly flat route with just a couple of climbs along the way, nothing tough or too stressful. No great wildlife reports. I was amazed at how well the crops are doing in this area given our drought situation. Tobacco and corn looked pretty good - very few signs of stress were seen.

Left the house at 730am, I had sweat rolling by the first hill..oh my, it was like 81 degrees already, way too hot way too soon around here for me. Got a couple miles up the road, forgot my cell phone. Hubby was working near by, stopped, he gave me a motorized ride back to home to get and a return. Decided I would go around by my parents house, they are repairing the road. There were rocks the size of my fist and all over the road like marbles. A town worker gave me a ride to another road so I could continue on instead of giving up. I then called my S.I.L. and told her to put the coffee pot on so it was a nice leisurly ride towards the end, 18 miles total.

Warm and muggy, the 60% chance of rain didn't happen, slight breeze from the south (off the Gulf). Rode 26 miles on the Mississippi River Levee (paved bike path) after work. Didn't see any eagles or Mississippi kites this time. But had a good ride. I forgot to look at my bike computer for average speed... seemed like it was 18 going out, and a bit slower coming back - more of a head wind.
