    Giant Bikes

So I just moved out to the SoCal area and was up at Big Bear lake and decided to look into getting a full suspension bike. So I went to one of the rental shops there to check out some prices. The guy had a lot of Giant bikes and I don't actually know anyone who rides one! And I couldn't test it that day because I had hurt my knee the day before and barely made it to the store with the stick shift! I probably wont get back there for a weeks or two, but in the mean time I wanted to see if anyone rides them on here and what their opinions are. Do they hold up? I've been riding a K2 hardtail that surprising has held up pretty well. I crash a lot!! lol I didn't bring it out here with me so I'm jonesin' for a ride. Anyway, I'll take any opinions on them.

    Thanks!

Not much use to you if you are talking full suspension and therefore off roading...

But I have a Giant TCR Aero for road racing and I would absolutely recommend it.
My partner and sons have Giants between them also - alos for road racing - but they are all awesome bikes...

    Have fun in your shopping!

Tankgirl.....I have been up to Big Bear many times to mountain bike. If you go to the ski lift (ride to the top with your bike) they have rentals there for the day. Wait till you get back to the city to buy, then you can shop around a bit more, and then you can ride before you buy . What part of southern cal do you live?

That is totally what I plan on doing. The shop I was at has the one I would buy for rent! Which is perfect... but one day of riding doesn't exactly prove whether or not they will hold up. Although... if they are renting them then they probably do take a beating! So I guess it kind of speaks for itself.

I bought a map of the trails up there, now it's just a matter of getting time to go back!

I live in the Santa Clarita area. And I gotta get on the ball with this! Need something to keep me busy on off days!

What are some good places to buy bikes in the LA/Santa Clarita area?

    Hey tank..

I don't have a mtb but I do love my Giant TCR. I think Giant's are a great buy for the buck and I really like the ride of their carbon bikes.

    Lifetime warranties too I think...

I have a Giant road bike too (TCR C2) and absolutely *love* it. If you test ride it and like it I certainly don't think you should worry about it falling apart or anything. They make good bikes and I've heard good things about their mountain bikes too, though I have a Kona MTB. *Love* the Kona too.

That sounds like a great opportunity for a test ride. It's nice to be able to really put the bike to use and get a decent ride in when you test ride.

2003 TCR 1. She's quite lovely and is only occasionally embarrased to be with me

This is pretty much what she looks like but w/o the aero seat post

I'll have to let you guys know how the MTB rides then. Seems like everyone that has a Giant bike has a roadbike!
