My Sidi's arrived! Great for narrow feet

When we got our tandem, I was fitted at the LBS with some Shimano cycling shoes. They were the best fitting shoe they had. I had no idea how a cycling shoe should fit, so I just went with it. I have since learned that they should be pretty snug around your foot, with a "little" bit of extra length beyond the big toe. I have very long (size 10) but very narrow feet. The Shimano's I have been wearing were not nearly narrow enough. Every time I pull the pedal up, my foot shifts in my shoe. My DH said my foot "should be one with the shoe"! I wish he would have told me that when I was trying them on! He said he was just trusting the supposedly competent sales guy. I think the guy gave me the best fit he could with what they had and might not have realized how much room I had around my foot. You'd think I would have known better after replacing my snowbaording boots for the exact same reason!

Anyways, I have learned that Sidi's are about the best fit most anyone can get because they sort of mold around your foot. They are especially great for a narrow foot. After much research, and a million phone calls to bike shops trying to locate my size, I finally ordered them through my LBS. A few days later they called and informed me that Sidi does not make a women's shoe in my length (44). I, therefore, had them order the men's narrow, which are equally difficult to find locally.

Well, they finally arrived and they are DIVINE!!!!!!!! Great fit. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. I could have warn them today on my ride if DH had remembered to tell me they actually arrived YESTERDAY!

Oh well. Tomorrow they'll get their test run. They're Sidi Genius 5's, by the way. Hubs has two pairs of the same shoe. One for his road bike and one for his MTB.

Congrats on the new shoes! I used to have Pearl Izumis and they fit well, but one day I was in my LBS where one of my friends works and I saw a pair of Sid carbon soled shoes in my size (43) and on sale. I couldn't afford them at the time, but my friend stowed them for me until this spring. I purchased them for about $55.00 on sale...worth $250.00 before put on sale! My best buy ever! I love them, they are sooooooo comfortable! I didn't realize they were made narrow, but since I have narrow feet, I should have known! All I know is when I put them on, they fit and they were comfortable. Have a great ride with them!

Hey Badgergirl. Regarding Sidi's being narrow, I actually believe Sidi's can fit a wide range of feet widths, not just narrow, because they reshape and mold around the foot. However, from what I hear, they're the best choice for anyone with a narrow foot and if you're foot isn't AS narrow as mine, a regular width is often fine. DH doesn't have narrow feet, by any means and he loves his Sidi's as well.

What an insane deal you got! I believe mine were $225. DH got a better deal on his, but since a men's 44 narrow is harder to come by, we had to get what we could get. My LBS could have ordered them from Sidi, but it was going to take over a month to get them. Even Sidi didn't have any in stock.
