    Hello Ladies,
Here's the lowdown on the hoedown from Middle Tennessee!!My SO and completed our first tri yesterday..06 mi. OW swim,16 mi. bike and 4 mi.run.My SO,Deb, finished 311 out of 352 entrants, her overall time was 2:22:01.We were right at the end of the start and a small front had turned the water fairly choppy by the time we went in.She completed the swim in 26:03,T-1, 3:04,bike in 1:03:52,T-2,3:34(had a pee break in there!!) ,run in 45:29.She was smokin' all three, and she smoked me by 23 minutes overall,so guess who has to mow and weedeat her yard and pasture next weekend?! I am so proud of her!!!Now for my results:I was 326 overall,my overall time was 2:45:01.Swim time was 42:33,did I mention I could barely swim when we started training?Deb helped me immensely in that aspect, she is like a dolphin in the water.Ladies,I used every stroke known to finish, and had no need to hydrate,as I swallowed about a gallon of the lake!!! T-1 was 3:04,bike was 58:42,I finished 3 out of 3 in my AG,but was 1st on the bike, which tickled me as cycling is my passion!T-2 was 2:45,run in 57:59.I was the last entrant to finish, but finish I did.My goals were to finish and finish in under 3 hours,so mission accomplished!!!WE HAD A BLAST!!!!I am ready to go out and do another next week, but will probably hold off till August, and we'll do some bike rides till then.I am happy that I finished, and am just busting at the seams with Deb's results.I got my personal trainer certification about 4 months ago and I like to think a combo of my training plans, and her hard work and determination got us both there. She has never considered herself athletic, even though she is and life is good here in Tennessee!!!!

Wow- you both had AMAZING races!!!! You should be grinning ear to ear for both of your accomplishments. You are now triathletes!!!
Nice bike time!!! Give Deb a huge pat on the back from all of us- and give yourself a giant one also! You did great in the swim, considering you couldn't swim when you started training- it all does pay off in the end, eh?
Again- major congrats to you both! Are you totally addicted now????

Congratulations to both of you!!! Sounds like you had so much fun, which is good to hear. Thanks for sharing your story. (I also could not swim when I started training, so we'll see how that works out.)

    Thumbs up Oh Yeah!Totally Addicted!

Thx for all the congrats and encouragement, girls.Yes,TriGirl,we are addicted I quit my truck driving job the day before the tri and I felt elated about that decision.I am now a fulltime pizza delivery driver and will be starting school soon,a lot poorer, but determined to attain a career I do because it brings me satisfaction and income, not just schlepping to a job every day, slave to a paycheck! We are planning on doing, one, maybe two more sprint events this season, along with Deb completing her first metric century and me completing my first full century.Deb's uncle was a collegiate swim champ for Yale and he has offered coaching, along with free pool access,to help Deb get faster and help me improve my stroke mechanics, build endurance and get faster. It's all good,we've both gone through some big life changes in the past 9 months and on the good side of the equation, triathlon has added a great big hunk of good to both of our lives!!And I want to give a shout out to all the volunteers and the MachTenn Running club for putting on such a great tri!!I'm the one with backward cap,Deb's the pretty one!!

Great pic! Thanks for posting!!! And you're BOTH beautiful women!! Good for you for making positive changes in your life. It can be scary, but good things can come. I, too, just quit my job in hopes of finding a different school that brings back the love for teaching that I temporarily lost at my last school. Scary, but hopeful too! Good luck w/school this fall.
