I'd like to borrow that photo for an avatar someday, if you're not going to. Terrific photo.

    Scandalous

I'm sure there's a story, because back then, that probably was an inappropriate pose. But, notice how every square inch of skin is covered. Wow, I can't imagine how uncomfortable that would be on a pretty day.

    Zen,
Is that your photo (it looks like a scan) or did you find it on the web?
It looks like she's wearing a graduation cap and gown. Double sassy. Go, girl.
Anyone recognize the fountain to i.d. the location?

I wish it were mine but no, I found it on the interweb somewhere.
She'd make a nice "instant ancestor".

The woman with the cap really looks sassy!

I've seen that pic somewhere before but can't remember where. I believe the photo was taken somewhere in London. At first I thought it was Hyde Park but I'm more inclined to think maybe Crystal Palace which was popular in Victorian and Edwardian times. I also think the lady in the pic was titled - Lady Something-or-Other and it is either very late Victorian or just into the Edwardian era (judging by her hat and leg-of-mutton sleeves which were popular in Edwardian times).

It's really annoying me because I've seen this before, along with the write-up of her. Just can't remember where.

The women of that era must have been really uncomfortable, and if that skirt got caught up in the wheels...ouch!!!

I wonder if this lady was alive today what she'd say about how we dress and the different types of bikes we ride?
There are a lot of unwanted, unloved bikes out there - go on give a bike a good home
