Wow, you really rock, KSH I have never ridden anything close to that fast. What a way to go into your race! Awesome!![]()

Well, I have been frustrated lately with my cycling speed/average, so I have been working on improving it.
It has gotten somewhat better. For example, for 40 mile rides, I have taken my average from 14-16 mph to 16-18 mph.
Today, I went out to the lake to ride 20 miles and run 3 miles.
The bike:
1h 5m 43s
20.79 miles
18.98 miles/hr
That's RIGHT! I was speeding today! I think this is a Personal Best to date! WHOO-HOO! I can't believe I almost did 20 miles in one hour! I have never done that before... ever!
If I keep this up, I might get to ride with the big boys... soon!
After my ride, I went to run.
The run:
30m 15s
3.00 miles
10m 05s /mile
Dang, I was an all around speed demon today! I haven't run this fast before after a ride!
No side cramp and my lower legs felt great. I felt strong and good! I felt like a triathlete!
Great day of training for me!
This was my last brick before my first Oly distance on 5-28-07. I feel SO READY for the race! I am trained and ready! YES!![]()
Anyone else have some break throughs lately? If so... please share!

Ditto what Starfish said! Amazing bike and run times (and I can only dream of a 19mph avg- INCREDIBLE).
I can't wait to hear how your race goes next weekend!!!!

KSH,
I'm pretty new here, but aren't you the one that is always complaining about how SLOOOW you run?![]()
Well, from now on, no complaining allowed! I would LOVE to be able to run 10 minute miles!
You are now officially a speed demon in my book!![]()
Lynette
Congrats on a great workout!!!!![]()
HA! HA! Well, that was a FAST run for me and not typical at all.
In my first Olympic distance race on 5-28-07, I plan on running a 11-12 minute mile, so I don't get a horrible side cramp.
What is said though, is that in my last race, I ran a 10:20 minute mile and I still got passed by EVERYONE! In a tri, you have to run a 7-8 minute mile to really be a contender out there. Thus, I'm a slow runner.
Anyhoo, thanks for the kind words.
I was shocked at my average on the bike, and I plan on running a 18 mph average in my race! I think I can do it!
Thanks Mini, Starfish and Tri Girl for the kind words. I hope that was just a small example of how good my race is going to go!

Wow! That is an awesome bike average. I'm kind of in the same boat as far as wanting to improve my speed on the bike for my tri in July. Most of my rides are at least 20 miles, so I'm usually focused on conserving energy for whatever distance I'm doing. I'm also trying to tackle some hills, and the last two weekends I spent riding at elevation (shameless plug for my thread over in Adventure Stories so you tri gals can see the scenery: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=15782 ). The bike leg for my tri is 12 miles with 300 ft. of climb on the way out, so I want to start focusing on building some speed for the shorter distance. So basically, I haven't had a breakthrough yet, but I'm planning one!![]()
Great run too, and to have that coming off such a fast bike . . . You're going to kick butt on your Oly!!!![]()
The best part about going up hills is riding back down!
