I'm looking for the name of the trail that goes north/south and I believe it runs through Colorado... and extends (or will someday) through several states? I remember reading about it and now I can't remember the name....

    Anyone?

There's the Pacific Crest Trail along the west side. Is there a Rocky Mountain Trail?

    You're sure it's not: http://www.coloradotrail.org/

Edit: Just re-read original post. You said several states. The Colorado Trail, well, only goes through Colorado - Denver to Durango.
For 3 days, I get to part of a thousand other journeys.

If you're thinking of doing the Colorado Trail, let me know, I can give you lessons learned etc.

DH and I did it and really enjoyed it (yes, there were many hard days), but it is a great mountain bike tour!
