I need to buy a new helmet. I see very inexpensive ones and very expensive. What's a good 'average' price? Any brand better than another? Thanks ladies.

Go for one that fits your head well and looks okay on!

They all have to meet the same safety standards, so price becomes a matter of brand/style.

Our bike club sells helmets for $10. Police depts often do that kind of thing, too. SKnot and I have odd shaped heads (kinda streamlined: long front to back, narrower than average side to side) and have good luck with Bell brand helmets. I'd say ours cost about $30-$40.

Then find one that fits right. Everyone's noggin is different and different brands fit different shaped heads. Consider the number of vents depending on your climate.
