2006 Hilly Hundred Video/Slide show -Day One

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    Hi everyone,
I didn't know whether to put this here or in the non bike, but since it's a video/slide show I did of Day One from the 2006 Hilly Hundred last October, I thought it might be ok here. I have been working on this for quite some time and was having issues getting it saved in a format worth sharing and FINALLY got it fixed early this morning.
I haven't started on Day Two yet with photos of myself and Silver, but have plans to eventually work on a second video/slide show for Day Two. This was a LOT of work, but a BLAST working with the slides and musical/video transitions. I hope you all enjoy it and whenever I get Day Two done, I'll post it as well...

Doggonit, I can't figure out a way to actually embed the player on this site, but the above is a link to the page. Let me know what you all think.

Thanks, I hope I'm back in ANY shape to do the Hilly this year.
Kimmy, when I first saw the pic, I almost DIDN'T keep it, it kind of gave me vertigo, but then when I started working with the pics for the slide show, I thought, what a better way to show in a still photo what a really GOOD downhill looks/feels like.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Jeni. I'm getting ready to work on day two when I got to meet Silver and if it works out video wise, I'll be using Argent's - Hold Your Head Up... Although I didn't originally think about it when I chose the music, it's fitting that I met Silver on day two and I happen to decide to use ARGENT for the music. Argent c'est silver en francais!

    Talking Day Two Now Added!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zO2lGCYmDPI

I have just finished Day Two of last years Hilly and uploaded it to Youtube as well. It's not as fancy with special effects as the first but the song is shorter and I had nearly as many photos. I hope you all like this one as well. Enjoy!

I am so amazed that you did that ride on a Navigator. Wow!

I liked your videos. However, when I ride, the music in my head is more like "tra la la", birds chirping, harps twanging, and with the music swelling to a crescendo when I get to the top or go faster or adroitly miss a big pothole in the road.

Kudos to you. Your videos are amazing.

I love your videos! Are they still frames from actual video footage, or are those made with a still camera? What kind of camera do you use, and do you just read up and click, or use a remote, or...?

    Thanks everyone,
Darcy, last year was my second year to go to the Hilly. I rode with a friend, his son and brother on Day 2 and we finished the 40 mile route so I was familiar with it, but we'd gotten an early start, I wasn't alone and knew I didn't have to SAG in. I did SAG in both days last year, but I think if it hadn't been for my foot, I would have gotten farther, but I'm still proud that after that winding hill on Sunday before the rest stop, I didn't do any more walking on the hills. It took me quite some time to get up some of the hills starting and stopping, but I had such a feeling of accomplishment when I rolled into the lunch stop having RIDDEN the whole way from the first stop. My foot felt better too
Pooks, I'm calling them video/slide shows because I'm using Microsoft Movie Maker and Digital still photos. I've got a used Nikon CoolPix 2500 and save the photos to my computer. I like using the Microsoft movie maker because I can lay down my musical track then move my pics around (can only add one or two at a time to get the music transitions correct) I lay the music then add my photos play the video back to check for timing etc and then go on to the next pics until I get it the way I want it to look/sound. It's great to see it come together but WOW, I see how much work goes into editing for movies etc.

I want to thank you all again for looking at my videos and for the wonderful comments. I had fun and I'm planning on more video/slide shows in the future. At least right now it lets me do something to do with my bike even if it's looking at pictures from previous rides. I may come up with something for my birthday metrics or first(s)

Loved the comment about the 50# bike! That's no kidding, I used to have one! Thanks for the slide show, I enjoyed it. Looks like you had a great time.
