My daugther who is a student at Wellesley sent me this note on Marathon monday which I thought I'd share:

wanted to pass this on cuz its so cool
(from a friend here at wellesley)

One of the runners (older guy) threw me a letter in a plastic baggie while
he was running, and this is what it said:

    Wellesley Woman,

Thank you for being here. You have always been here for me in this race.
At the halfway poing in this journey I look to you, standing and
cheering, to give strength for the second half. Your smile and wave fill
my being with courage and power. your face glows bright and warm, keeping
me content and blissful. You wait for me patiently as you have for a
century. I long to crest the horizon that is caressed by your gaze.
Thank you for today. Thank you for this moment. Thank you for the
forever, we are destined to share.
You are here today as am I. I am having a glorious time, as are you.

    Thank you eternally,

    Mike Dobberstein

Dang it, that's so cool! *Wipes a tear*

What a nice idea... to pass a note to a spectator or volunteer at a race. What a huge impact it makes.
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside thoroughly used-up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!!"

Wow- that IS cool!!! I may have to steal his idea at my next mary. What a cool thing to give to a volunteer (or wonderfully welcomed fanatically invigorating cheering station as the Wellesly women are).
Very cool- thanks so much for sharing!!!!!!
