review: two inexpensive bike stands

I wanted something that would hold up one bike, not scratch my floor, and be inexpensive. I already had a clunky bike in the room. How nice if it was not leaning on stuff, threatening to fall over all the time!

the crank stand came first. It was very easy to assemble, but it took some getting used to. Once you have your bike set up in it, it stays, but it's a little shaky. DH doesn't like it so much, but after a few days, he got used to using it.


Next came the Performance's Quick Stand. This one requires some dumb luck and basic ability to read instructions to get it assembled. But once it was assembled, DH put his new bike on it and loved it.

It is more stable than the crank stand, and you can adjust it. However, it is larger and uglier. (but it's still inobtrusive next to the bike)
Neither of these stands puts pressure on spokes or tires, I recommend both, I just ordered a second quickstand so I have one for my bike.
Both companies were pleasant efficient and a pleasure to deal with.

Mimi, can these be used to hold the back wheel off the floor while you do maintenance, or do they just hold the bike upright (in place of a kickstand)?

the quickstand can hold the back wheel nicely off the ground for maintenance, but it's not as good as a real workstand.
